Scope of application
Gold-loaded activated carbon is a specially treated activated carbon. Gold (Au), silver (Ag) or other precious metals are usually loaded on the surface of the activated carbon by physical or chemical methods, so that it has the ability to catalyze, adsorb and recover precious metals.
Gold-loaded activated carbon refers to activated carbon that has adsorbed precious metals such as gold and silver. It is mainly used for gold extraction (carbon-in-pulp CIP/CIL process) and can also be used to recover precious metals in wastewater or electronic waste. Its core features are high adsorption capacity, easy desorption and recyclability.

Types of gold-loaded carbon
Classification by raw materials
Coconut shell gold-loaded carbon: high hardness, high adsorption, suitable for CIP/CIL process (mainstream choice).
Coal-based gold-loaded carbon: low cost, but weak adsorption capacity, mostly used for low-grade gold mines.
Fruit shell gold-loaded carbon (such as apricot shell): between coconut shell and coal, cost-effective.
Classification by process use
Adsorption carbon: used for adsorption of gold in ore slurry (CIP/CIL process).
Desorption carbon: used for electrolysis or high-temperature regeneration after loading with gold.
Application process of gold-loaded carbon (CIP/CIL process)
Adsorption stage:
The ore slurry (containing gold cyanide solution) is mixed with activated carbon, and gold is adsorbed on the carbon.
Adsorption time: 6-24 hours, depending on the gold concentration and carbon performance.
Desorption stage:
The gold-loaded carbon enters the desorption column and the gold is eluted with high-temperature and high-pressure NaOH+NaCN solution or alcohol desorbent.
Electrolytic gold extraction:
The desorption solution enters the electrolytic cell, and the gold is deposited on the cathode (gold mud is obtained).
