Coconut shell activated carbon

Scope of application

Coconut shell activated carbon is a porous adsorption material made from high-quality coconut shells through high-temperature carbonization and activation. Due to its high hardness, developed microporous structure, high adsorption performance and low ash content, it is widely used in drinking water and food grade purification, air purification and VOCs treatment, precious metal recovery and catalysis.

Coconut Shell Activated Carbon

Introduction to coconut shell activated carbon: The product uses high-quality coconut shell as raw material, has the advantages of large specific surface area and high strength, and has complete product specifications, including crushed particles, small particles and powdered carbon. At present, coconut shell activated carbon is used for drinking water purification and has good effects in dechlorination, deoxygenation and catalysis. It can also be used in water purification equipment such as water filters and filter core fillers.

Application of coconut shell activated carbon:

  1. Coconut shell granular activated carbon is often used in gas phase adsorption, usually by allowing the air flow to pass through the activated carbon layer for adsorption. According to the different states of the activated carbon layer in the adsorption device, the adsorption layer has several types: fixed layer, mobile layer and flowing layer. However, in small adsorbers such as deodorizers in refrigerators and cars, adsorption is carried out by gas convection and diffusion. In addition to granular activated carbon, activated carbon fibers and activated carbon moldings are also being increasingly widely used in gas phase adsorption.
  2. The air in instrument rooms, air-conditioning rooms, basements and submarine facilities often contains body odor, smoking odor, cooking odor, oil, organic and inorganic sulfides, corrosive components, etc. due to external pollution or the influence of human activities in a closed environment, which causes corrosion of precision instruments or affects human health. Activated carbon can be used for purification to remove impurities.
  3. Coconut shell activated carbon can be used in the exhaust gas of chemical plants, leather factories, paint factories and projects using various organic solvents. It contains various organic solvents, inorganic and organic sulfides, hydrocarbons, chlorine, oil, mercury and other components that are harmful to the environment. It can be adsorbed by activated carbon before being discharged. The gas discharged from atomic energy facilities contains radioactive krypton, xenon, iodine and other substances, which must be adsorbed by activated carbon before being discharged. The flue gas generated by the combustion of coal and heavy oil contains sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, which are harmful components that pollute the atmosphere and form acid rain. They can also be adsorbed and removed by activated carbon.
  4. There are many cases where coconut shell activated carbon is used to refine gas, such as gas masks, cigarette filters, refrigerator deodorizers, automobile exhaust treatment devices, etc., all of which use the excellent adsorption properties of activated carbon to remove toxic components, components that are harmful to the human body, or components with odor in the gas. For example, after adding 100~120ng of activated carbon to the cigarette filter, a large part of the harmful components in the flue gas can be removed.
  5. Desulfurization activated carbon: used as a carrier of gasoline desulfurization (deodorization) catalyst in the catalytic unit of the refinery.
  6. Vinylon catalyst activated carbon: used as a catalyst carrier in the chemical industry, such as as a vinyl acetate catalyst carrier.
  7. MSG refining activated carbon: used for decolorization and refining of mother liquor in the production process of MSG, and can also be used for decolorization and refining of fine chemical products.
  8. Activated carbon for cigarette filters: used in cigarette filters in the cigarette industry to remove tar, nicotine and other toxic and harmful substances in cigarettes.
  9. Activated carbon for citric acid: used for decolorization, refining and deodorization of various acids such as citric acid, amino acids, cystine, etc.
  10. Activated carbon for direct drinking water treatment: Activated carbon is used for deep water purification of household direct drinking water, water treatment in water plants, and bottled water production.

Even with the best air purification activated carbon products, people staying in a closed room for too long can easily lead to some diseases. For users, they should always pay attention to opening windows for ventilation and pay more attention to physical exercise.

The amount of coconut shell activated carbon used, in principle, the more the better. The more it is used, the more harmful gases it absorbs, especially if there are elderly people, pregnant women or children at home! But the appropriate amount of air purification carbon should be considered from an economic perspective.

Coconut shell activated carbon has been gradually recognized by people, and has been given many beautiful names such as “formaldehyde removal expert” and “air freshener”. With the improvement of living standards, the impact of air quality on human body has become more and more concerned. At this time, people are paying more and more attention to healthy life. Therefore, green products such as activated carbon will inevitably become a necessity in people’s lives, and buying activated carbon will be regarded as a health investment.

Coconut shell activated carbon – “Air Treatment Expert” not only pays attention to the details of product quality, but also fully demonstrates “environmental protection” from the inside out. Its exquisite packaging design not only fully demonstrates the characteristics of the product, but also most of the outer packaging of the product is made of imported environmentally friendly paper. High specific surface area activated carbon is a widely studied activated carbon field. It has shown excellent performance in the electrode material of double-layer capacitors, catalyst carriers and some special adsorption fields. KOH activation method is a mature method for producing high specific surface area activated carbon. However, the main problems that plague the large-scale promotion of KOH activation method are two: the explosive problem caused by the release of elemental potassium during the activation process and the high cost of high specific surface area activated carbon caused by the large-scale use of KOH. Only Japan and the United States can produce it commercially abroad.

Coconut shell for water purification. The product specifications are complete. Coconut shell carbon is a kind of carbon with good effects in drinking water purification, chlorine removal, algae removal, oxygen absorption, and catalytic carrier. It is used in water purifiers, filter element fillers and other water purification equipment.

Precautions for using coconut shell activated carbon:

  1. During transportation, coconut shell activated carbon should be prevented from mixing with hard materials, and should not be stepped on or trampled to prevent the carbon particles from breaking and affecting the quality.
  2. Storage should be stored in porous adsorbents, so during transportation, storage and use, it must be prevented from being soaked in water, because after soaking in water, a large amount of water fills the active voids, making it lose its function.
  3. During the use of coconut shell activated carbon, tar-like substances should be prohibited from being brought into the activated carbon bed to avoid clogging the activated carbon voids and making it lose its adsorption function.
  4. Fireproof activated carbon should be prevented from direct contact with fire sources during storage or transportation to prevent fire. When activated carbon is regenerated, oxygen should be avoided and regenerated thoroughly. After regeneration, it must be cooled with steam to below 80°C, otherwise the temperature is high and the activated carbon will spontaneously ignite when it encounters oxygen.

Adsorption performance of coconut shell activated carbon:

In situations where coconut shell activated carbon contains moisture or the circulating gas is humid, the adsorption rate of coconut shell activated carbon to organic solvents will generally decrease. However, by using coconut shell activated carbon that can maintain a considerable adsorption capacity in a wet state, it can be used for recycling under conditions that are not suitable for recycling so far, and it can also save water vapor. Especially in the case of solvent recovery that may generate heat due to oxidation and decomposition. By humidifying the adsorbed gas, the temperature rise of the coconut shell activated carbon layer can be suppressed, the reaction can be suppressed, and fire can be prevented. This becomes an important condition for selecting coconut shell activated carbon when collecting ketone solvents. The penetration curves of dry coconut shell activated carbon and wet coconut shell activated carbon when adsorbing acetone are different; the penetration time is also one of the adsorption indicators of coconut shell activated carbon.
