An ashing furnace is a specialized device that uses high-temperature oxidation to ash samples. It is widely used in fields such as food testing, environmental monitoring, pharmaceutical research and development, and materials analysis. Its core function is to incinerate samples at high temperatures (typically 500°C to 1200°C) in an oxygen-rich environment, completely oxidizing organic matter into carbon dioxide and water. The remaining inorganic minerals (ash) are then used for subsequent compositional analysis. Compared to traditional ashing methods, the ashing furnace offers advantages such as high ashing efficiency, low residue rates, and automated operation. It is a key instrument for accurate quantitative analysis in laboratories.

1.1 Working Principle and Core Structure
Heating Principle: A resistance wire, silicon carbon rod, or molybdenum wire is used as the heating element. An intelligent temperature control system achieves precise temperature control (with an accuracy of ±1°C) to ensure uniform ashing of samples at the set temperature.
Core Structure: It consists of a furnace chamber (made of ceramic fiber or refractory material), a temperature control module (PID control), an exhaust gas treatment system (with optional filters), and safety devices (overtemperature alarm and leakage protection). For example, ceramic fiber furnaces can achieve rapid temperature rise (≤30°C/min) and reduce energy consumption by more than 30%.
2.2 Classification by Heating Method and Industry Application
By Heating Method:
Box-Type Ashing Furnace: Suitable for small batches of samples, such as laboratory testing of ash content in food1
Tubular-Type Ashing Furnace: Suitable for continuous feed processing, such as batch ashing of soil samples in environmental monitoring.
By Industry Application:
For Food Testing: Complies with GB 5009.4-2016 “National Food Safety Standard” and is equipped with a corrosion-resistant furnace chamber;
For Material Analysis: Supports inert gas protection and is used for ashing of lithium battery positive electrode materials.
